Change your domain nameservers on OneNet Servers

Applies to: Domains managed through the OneNet Servers registrar flow or a linked client account.

Nameserver changes decide who controls the live DNS for the whole domain. Make the change carefully because it affects websites, email, verification records, and anything else that depends on the domain.

Before you start

• Make sure you already have the correct nameserver values.
• Confirm whether you want to change the whole DNS authority or only a single DNS record.

Steps on OneNet Servers

1. Open the domain inside Client Area.
2. Open the nameserver section for that domain.
3. Replace the old nameservers with the new set and save the change.
4. Wait for propagation before you judge whether the new destination is working properly.

What you should see next

• The domain should begin moving to the new DNS authority after the change is saved.
• If you only needed to change one record, you should stay on OneNet Servers nameservers and use the service-linked DNS flow instead.

Common issues

• Changing nameservers is different from editing individual DNS records. It moves the whole DNS authority for the domain.
• A domain can keep resolving to the old destination for a while because caches still hold the earlier answer.
