Back up a database in Plesk

Use this guide when you need a manual copy of a database before a change, migration, or cleanup task.
Before you start
- Know which database you want to back up.
- Make sure you have enough local storage on your computer if you plan to download the export file immediately.

- Log in to Plesk and open Databases or the backup area attached to the correct website.
- Choose the database you want to protect.
- Run the backup or export action and give the file a name that clearly identifies the site and date.
- Download the backup once it is ready if you want an off-panel copy.
What you should see next
- You should have a database export you can store safely before making high-risk changes.
Common issues
- A full website backup and a database-only backup are not the same thing. Use the database path when you only need the database.
When to contact support: Contact support if the backup action is unavailable on your plan or if the export fails before the file is generated.
