How domain renewals, expiry, and grace periods work on OneNet Servers
Applies to: Domains registered through OneNet Servers and billed through Client Area.
A domain renewal problem can take down the website, email, and DNS together. This guide helps you separate normal renewal timing from expiry and post-expiry recovery stages.
Before you start
- Open the domain or the renewal invoice in Client Area before you decide whether the issue is billing, expiry, or a technical fault.
Steps on OneNet Servers
- Check the domain status and next due date in Client Area.
- Pay the renewal invoice before the due date where possible, especially when the domain powers active hosting or email.
- If the domain has already expired, confirm whether it is still in a normal renewal window or has moved into a grace or recovery stage.
- Review the auto-renew setting as well so the same domain does not fall back into the same situation later.
What you should see next
- A renewed domain should return to the normal active state once the registrar processes the renewal.
- If the domain has moved into a recovery stage, the restore path can take longer and cost more than a normal renewal.
Common issues
- A hosting service can stay active while the domain itself expires, which makes the website or email look broken even though the server is fine.
- Different domain extensions can have different post-expiry behaviour.
